| On December 5 it's a double-bill with Lynne Hanson and the Juno-award winning Old Man Luedecke! | |

The youngest of eight children, Ottawa singer-songwriter Lynne Hanson
was exposed to a diverse array of musical eras and styles as she grew
up, resulting in a hybrid brand of roots music that merges universal
themes with Texas soul-country. Her music has been decribed as “Porch
music with a little Texas red dirt.” Lynne has been attracting
critical praise since the release of her debut CD “Things I Miss” in
late 2006. River By My Side won the 2006 Blues Award for the Ontario
Council of Folk Festivals "Songs from the Heart" contest,
while the title track was chosen as one of the best songs of 2006 by the
Indie Acoustic Music Project. Old Man Luedecke is a banjo
songster –
a rare type of musician, indeed. A songwriter and performer in the
bi-gone tradition of solo banjo men and women of days gone by such Dock
Boggs, Bascom Lunsford and Roscoe Holcomb, Old Man Luedecke sings his
songs accompanied only by his loving five string, foot stomps and the
occasional yodel. His songs are melodic gems blending old time
sensibilities with an unusual vision and poetic sense.
This is a bizarre type of music Dock Boggs
might have made if he’d
studied poetry. |
