On October 17 at 7:30pm, Classic Troubadours Live: The Songs of James, Joni, Jackson & Carole returns to Perth for a very special evening at St. Paul’s United Church, with the church’s choir joining the acclaimed ensemble for several selections.
Created by Canadian singer-songwriter and performer Jacob Moon in 2023, Classic Troubadours celebrates four of the most influential and beloved singer-songwriters of a generation: James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne and Carole King. Their music helped define an era, but more importantly, these songs have endured because they continue to speak to the experiences of everyday life.
For this special Perth performance, the intimate and historic setting of St. Paul’s United Church will provide the perfect backdrop for an evening of timeless melodies and unforgettable lyrics. The collaboration with the St. Paul’s choir will add an entirely new dimension to several of the songs, bringing familiar favourites to life with the power and warmth of a larger ensemble.
The evening will feature such enduring classics as You’ve Got a Friend, Carolina in My Mind, Before the Deluge, Big Yellow Taxi, and many more.
These are songs that have travelled with us through the years. They are the soundtrack of countless lives — songs heard on the radio, sung around campfires, played on record players and cassette decks, and rediscovered by new generations.
There is something particularly powerful about hearing them in a church — surrounded by the resonance of the space, the voices of a choir, and the musicianship of Classic Troubadours. It promises to be less a concert than a musical journey through memories we all share.
