Once again, the Friends of the Mississippi Mills Public Library are happy to host our biggest book sale of the year in October. Book lovers, now’s the time to go through your shelves to make room for some new gently used books from the sale. It’s too early to donate books, but you can certainly start getting them together. Please keep in mind that there are books we cannot accept as they don’t sell and we bear the cost of disposing of them.

We ask that you check the books you wish to donate to make sure we can accept them. Those we are unable to accept include textbooks, dictionaries and encyclopaedia sets; religious books; business, investment and economics books; mouldy, musty, highlighted, written in or damaged books; magazines or Readers Digest condensed sets. We do accept jigsaw puzzles, but not DVDs or CDs.

The Friends will be accepting book donations from October 1–15 at the Rexall Mall, located at 430 Ottawa Street in Almonte. You can drop off books whenever the mall is open. Follow the signs when you get there.

The book sale runs on October 16 and 23 from 12–6pm, October 17 and 24 from 10am to 4pm, and October 18 from 11am to 3pm. It features thousands of great reads donated by book lovers in the community. If you have cleared out your bookcases to donate books to the sale, you can fill in the gap with a visit to the sale! Most books are for sale by donation, and we are only able to accept cash. Books such as some first editions or very high-quality books may be individually priced, but they will be up by the cash and easily identifiable.

Come visit the book sale, buy some new-to-you books, and help us support programming and special events at the Almonte and Pakenham branches of the Mississippi Mills Public Libraries. Let’s see if we can repeat last year’s total!
