Almonte’s Riversong Players is closing the chapter on a joyful and well-received holiday season following its recent production of A Christmas Story: The Musical, which brought together audiences of all ages for an evening of warmth, nostalgia, and community connection.

Audience members consistently shared how much they enjoyed the production, with children responding enthusiastically to the humour and energy of the show, while older patrons remarking that it reminded them of their own childhoods and helped usher in the Christmas spirit. For many, the experience evoked fond holiday memories and the magic of seeing a beloved story come to life on stage.

The intergenerational cast and family-friendly approach reflect Riversong’s mission to create theatre that is accessible, welcoming, and rooted in shared experience — especially for families, first-time theatre-goers, and community members of all ages.

Building on the positive response to its Christmas production, Riversong Players is now looking ahead to an ambitious and meaningful series of performances, concerts, and audition opportunities in 2026.

Upcoming Productions

March bring The Strings of the Violin — a moving, school-friendly play grounded in Jewish folklore and heritage. It tells the story of children who use imagination, myth, and storytelling to cope with the dangers of World War II. The production explores resilience, courage and hope, offering powerful themes for both youth and adult audiences.

In June, Riversong returns to the musical stage with Godspell, a joyful and contemporary celebration of community, compassion and shared humanity, told through music, movement and ensemble storytelling.

The season will culminate in September with Next to Normal, the Pulitzer Prize-winning rock musical that explores mental health, grief and family dynamics with honesty and emotional depth, continuing their commitment to meaningful and thought-provoking theatre.

Tickets for all shows will be available through Tickets Please (TicketsPlease.ca, 485–6434). Please contact info@riversongplayers.com for school matinée information and rates.

In addition to its theatrical productions, Riversong Players’ community chorus will be performing as part of Winterfest, bringing music into local celebrations and inviting the community to experience the joy of shared song during the winter season.
