This spring, the Mississippi Mudds will perform the hilarious comedy The Play That Goes Wrong at the Carleton Place Town Hall. This comedic masterpiece, a winner of the UK’s Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, has been described by the Huffington Post as “the funniest play Broadway’s ever seen!”
Running from April 30 to May 3 and from May 7–9, the show is under the skillful direction of longtime time Mudds members Sylvia Giles and Chris Jones. The Play That Goes Wrong tells the farcical tale of a group of ill-fated actors and members of the fictional Cornley Drama Society who are experiencing a case of everything that can go wrong, does go wrong as they try to stage the opening night of a murder mystery. Their production quickly goes from bad to worse… with hilarious results!
The Mudds have assembled a terrific cast who will leave audiences in stiches, and the set itself is practically its own character in the show. Thanks to designers and builders Jon Lockhart and Shawn Millman, the play will feature a two-level set that has a mind of its own on the Town Hall’s historic stage.
Audiences are in for a real treat watching the Mudds play the theatre troupe and its crew who are desperately trying to make it through a series of disasters, all while valiantly attempting to stick to the plot and make it to the end in one piece!
The Play That Goes Wrong is absolute comedic mayhem and an all-ages crowd pleaser. Don’t miss Carleton Place’s own Mississippi Mudds as they perform this comedy gem!
