Introduction to Chainmaille Jewelry Weaving

In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the modern craft of weaving chainmaille jewelry. They will learn the historic and contemporary usage of this ancient skill along with proper technique before being taught how to make a byzantine bracelet out of anodized aluminum jump rings. All materials (jump rings, pliers, and clasps) are included in the supply fee. Participants will take home their finished bracelet and tools.

Miriam Tepper discovered chainmaille as a teenager many years ago. Since then, she has sold her jewelry at craft fairs and in craft stores in Ottawa and Missouri. She works in materials from anodized aluminum to sterling silver. Miriam loves the versatility of patterns created only by weaving rings in distinct ways and finds the geometry and symmetry very satisfying. She looks forward to sharing the pleasure and satisfaction of producing one’s own wearable piece of art.
