Nov 1 - Dec 18, Tue-Sun, 1-4pm. People and Place grew out of a desire to support people in working on a project together yet apart during the early days of the pandemic. People and Place pays homage to the places where we feel connected to one another, and the land from which we draw inspiration and livelihood.  The tapestry was designed and assembled by lead artist Genevieve Townsend and is made up of 56 pieces completed by 50 creative people from across the Ottawa Valley. The tapestry recreates a map of the Ottawa Valley – its rivers, lakes, streams and watersheds – with each of the 56 pieces representing a section of the map.

An initiative to reduce the isolation artists experienced during Covid, the installation is composed of 3 sections: left panel was created by Line Dufour, referencing the contemporary practice of tapestry; middle of irregular shapes contributed by weavers worldwide; end panel was woven by visiting participants. As Dufour receives each weaver’s shape it is documented and posted to the project’s social media. To date, 864 shapes have been received from 43 countries, and a total of about 520 people have participated. The installation continues to expand as it accepts woven pieces on an ongoing basis. Vernissage: Oct 1, 2-4pm.

Nov 1 - Dec 18, Tue-Sun, 1-4pm. People and Place grew out of a desire to support people in working on a project together yet apart during the early days of the pandemic. People and Place pays homage to the places where we feel connected to one another, and the land from which we draw inspiration and livelihood.  The tapestry was designed and assembled by lead artist Genevieve Townsend and is made up of 56 pieces completed by 50 creative people from across the Ottawa Valley. The tapestry recreates a map of the Ottawa Valley – its rivers, lakes, streams and watersheds – with each of the 56 pieces representing a section of the map.

An initiative to reduce the isolation artists experienced during Covid, the installation is composed of 3 sections: left panel was created by Line Dufour, referencing the contemporary practice of tapestry; middle of irregular shapes contributed by weavers worldwide; end panel was woven by visiting participants. As Dufour receives each weaver’s shape it is documented and posted to the project’s social media. To date, 864 shapes have been received from 43 countries, and a total of about 520 people have participated. The installation continues to expand as it accepts woven pieces on an ongoing basis. Vernissage: Oct 1, 2-4pm.

Wendell’s zany gentle wit is in contrast to his seriously amazing guitar chops and has perhaps been best summarized as “The Victor Borge of the guitar” by Country Music News. Katherine Wheatley is no slouch on the guitar either, but this is just one component of the package she brings to the table. An initiative to reduce the isolation artists experienced during Covid, the installation is composed of 3 sections: left panel was created by Line Dufour, referencing the contemporary practice of tapestry; middle of irregular shapes contributed by weavers worldwide; end panel was woven by visiting participants. As Dufour receives each weaver’s shape it is documented and posted to the project’s social media. To date, 864 shapes have been received from 43 countries, and a total of about 520 people have participated. The installation continues to expand as it accepts woven pieces on an ongoing basis. Vernissage: Oct 1, 2-4pm.

Nov 1 - Dec 18, Tue-Sun, 1-4pm. People and Place grew out of a desire to support people in working on a project together yet apart during the early days of the pandemic. People and Place pays homage to the places where we feel connected to one another, and the land from which we draw inspiration and livelihood.  The tapestry was designed and assembled by lead artist Genevieve Townsend and is made up of 56 pieces completed by 50 creative people from across the Ottawa Valley. The tapestry recreates a map of the Ottawa Valley – its rivers, lakes, streams and watersheds – with each of the 56 pieces representing a section of the map.
