The community is invited to lace up their walking shoes and come together for a meaningful cause at the 3rd annual Hike for Hospice presented by Canadian Tire in Perth & Smiths Falls, taking place on Sunday, May 24. This inspiring event supports compassionate end-of-life care for individuals and families, wherever they call home.

Participants of all ages and abilities are encouraged to join by walking or running, and collecting donations in support of The Hospice Hub. Whether you choose to organize a team with friends and neighbours, participate solo, or walk in memory of a loved one, every step helps make a difference.

A highlight of this year’s event is the Legacy Walk, a heartfelt opportunity to walk in honour, celebration and remembrance. It offers participants a meaningful way to recognize someone special or show support for families currently navigating a hospice journey.

The day begins at the Crystal Palace in downtown Perth with registration and check-in at 9:30am. Participants will enjoy a group warm-up at 11am before setting off on the hike with an enthusiastic send-off from the Perth Town Crier.

Hikers can choose between a 1km or 5km route, taking in the scenic beauty of Perth’s streets and Last Duel Park. The hike will conclude at Bridge Masters Brewing Company, where participants are invited to celebrate their accomplishment. Food, snacks, and “Hops for Hospice” beverages will be available for purchase, with proceeds from Hops for Hospice supporting the cause.

For those unable to attend in person, there are still ways to get involved. Community members are encouraged to support participants by donating to a team or individual online at thehospicehub.ca. Charitable tax receipts are available for donations over $20.

More information about the event can be obtained by contacting Lesley at 627–0974 x1 or by emailing fundraising@thehospicehub.ca.

The Hike for Hospice is more than just a fundraiser — it’s a powerful opportunity for the community to unite in support of those facing serious illness, end-of-life journeys, and grief. Funds raised directly support The Hospice Hub’s essential programs and services, offered at no cost to participants and their families. These services are available to individuals and families in the communities served by the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital. Programs include the Day Hospice Program, Hospice Visiting, Grief and Bereavement Support Groups, practical caregiver training, and more.

Join the movement, honour a loved one, and help ensure compassionate care is available to all who need it.
