You won’t want to miss the Stewart Park Festival Summer Kick-Off Dance Party on June 6 featuring Heatwave at the Crystal Palace in Perth. This benefit event sets the tone for the festival itself, putting the town on notice that the Stewart Park Festival is just around the corner.
Heatwave is a professional Motown tribute ensemble based in Kingston. They bring the classic soul and R&B sounds to life with a full horn section, tight rhythm guitars, keyboards, bass, congas, harmonica, drums, and three soulful vocalists. The event runs from 7–10:30pm, and tickets are $35 from Tickets Please (TicketsPlease.ca, 485–6434).
And mark your calendars for July 17–19 for this year’s Stewart Park Festival — a by-donation celebration of live music, community and creativity. Featuring Canadian and international artists, an artisan marketplace, delicious food vendors, a licensed patio, kids’ activities and after-hours shows — there’s something for everyone.
