The Merrickville Organization for Culture and the Arts is pleased to offer the 6th Merrickville Festival of the Arts on July 11 and 12 in the beautiful Blockhouse Park alongside the Rideau Canal. Over 30 accomplished visual artists will be displaying their amazing creations. Theatre Night in Merrickville is performing two short plays at 12pm on each of the two days: Mosquito by Rob Riendeau and The Great Canadian Gothic Novel by Janet Rice. Both plays are being directed by Heddy Sorour.

Organizers are delighted this year to partner with Maple Music Studios to offer an extensive and exciting music program. A participatory children’s music and movement program will take place at 11am on July 11. Musical performances that day will feature Jan Bentham (2pm), Jessica Lavallee (3pm) and The Family Name (4pm). A special night performance starting at 6:30pm will feature headliner Emma Lamontagne. The evening of July 11 will be capped off by a reception and art exhibition at Monsky Creations Gallery from 6–9pm. On July 12, music performances will feature Guy Noël (11am), Keeley Brown (1:30pm) and a matinée headlining performance from the Keith Glass Band at 2:30pm.

Children are welcome to come and make art in the festival’s Mini-MAG tent. And at 1pm on both days, children and their grown-ups will be treated to storytelling by Jo Kuyvenhoven, one of Canada’s professional storytellers.

This going to a fun celebration of the arts, and it’s all free! For more information, please contact Nick Previsich at nprevisich@bell.net.
