Off The Grid Productions, a vibrant fixture in Eganville’s arts scene for nearly ten years, is proud to announce a series of fundraising concerts to support the Eganville District Food Bank and celebrate Bonnechere Valley’s 25th year of amalgamation. These musical events aim to strengthen local food security while uniting audiences around music, community, and a spirit of generosity.
Music lovers are invited to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church for two highly anticipated concerts: Canadian folk legend Valdy, who will perform on August 8 at 7pm, followed by renowned singer-songwriter Connie Kaldor on November 22 at 7pm.
A cultural emissary, Valdy is one of Canada’s trusted spokespersons, and a seasoned performer. A double JUNO Award winner with 16 albums, four of them gold status, Valdy continues to perform throughout Canada, doing as many as 200 shows per year.
His music is a little bit folk, a tad country, a smidgen of rock ‘n’ roll and a slice of blues. His distinctive voice, effortless guitar work and meaningful lyrics have captivated audiences around the world for almost 40 years. He can be heard on classic, country and campus radio; songs reflecting the joys, struggles and accomplishments in all our lives, spiced with a wry wit.
Singer-songwriter, entertainer, TV personality, and women’s music pioneer Connie Kaldor is celebrating 45 years in show business this year with her 18th recording, titled Keep Going! She began her career in folk music as part of the Canadian wave alongside artists like Stan Rogers and Valdy. Armed with her enormous stage presence, her unforgettable melodies and her emotional depth as a songwriter, Connie became a headline act on the festival circuit.
Her extensive touring has earned her a loyal fanbase that extends far beyond the traditional boundaries of folk, and the Boston Globe has described her as: “a masterful performer, wildly funny one moment, deeply personal the next.” A three-time JUNO Award winner, Connie is a member of the Order of Canada, a Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal recipient, holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Regina, and is the first songwriter to receive a Western Literature Association Award of Merit.
Each event will feature a rich blend of musical talent reflective of the cultural tapestry Off The Grid Productions continues to offer to patrons in the Ottawa Valley. Adding to the festivities, delicious desserts served at intermission are included with the ticket price and will offer guests a sweet treat to enjoy during the break.
Following each church concert, pies baked by community members will be available for purchase with all proceeds going to the Eganville District Food Bank. “I think we can make a real difference to many who are hungry in our village… one pie at a time,” says Lynne Epps of Off the Grid. If you bake pies, contact Lynne to be part of the baking team.
Tickets for these fundraising concerts are available online at TicketsPlease.ca or by contacting Lynne Epps at 633–7244 or eppsoffthegrid@gmail.com.
