Linden Housing Co-operative is seeking works from local artists to bring their interior and exterior community spaces to life. Artists working in a range of media based in Perth, Smith Falls, or the adjacent areas are invited to submit completed artworks and/or proposals for commissioned artwork that express Linden’s themes of community, inclusion, cooperation and environmental responsibility. The spaces predominantly support wall-hung pieces; however, outdoor, sculptural, plinth or shelf-based works are equally welcome!
Linden Housing Co-op is building a community rooted in connection, dignity, and shared responsibility. At Linden, there is no landlord. Members collectively shape the community, contribute to its daily life, and care for the spaces they share. It is a model grounded in stability, participation, and mutual respect. The shared spaces, gardens, and gathering areas are central to how members live, connect and support one another. The vision is an inclusive community that welcomes people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and life stages. Linden prioritizes accessibility, strives to meet a wide range of needs, and embraces environmental sustainability as a core value.
Linden is seeking to represent a diverse range of artistic voices and encourages submissions from Indigenous, Black, and other historically marginalized communities within the geographical limit of this application call.
Artworks and commission proposals should contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere that reflects Linden’s values of community and connection across cultural backgrounds, belonging and inclusion, environmental sustainability and care, dignity and resilience.
More information about submission requirements and commission proposals, as well as a link to the application, can be found at lindencoop.ca. The submission deadline is Saturday, October 31 at 11:30pm. Artworks selected for commission will have a completion deadline of January 15, 2027. Please note: in drafting your proposal and selection of materials, please keep in mind the total project budget is $20,000.
