Two breathtaking new shows continue at Almonte’s Sivarulrasa Gallery until October 30.

In Gallery I, Ann-Marie Brown: Becoming showcases lush, poetic encaustic and oil works by this British Columbia artist, exploring the complexities and imperfections of human nature. Brown’s work has been exhibited across Canada and the United States and was recently selected for inclusion in the 2024 High Button Press Featured Artist Masters Series. Residencies have allowed her to work in studios internationally, most recently during an extended residency in Helsinki awarded by the Artists’ Association of Finland. Her paintings have been published in numerous journals and featured in films.

In Gallery II, Elaine Carr: Symphony presents a new body of work by this Windsor-based artist, in which the artist continues her exploration of the human relationship to land and water. The ten works in this installation focus on the marsh to explore concerns about biodiversity and the health of the ecosystem. Carr’s works combine photography, drawing, and sculptural elements to portray a new narrative of place. Born in Scotland and now based in Windsor, Ontario, her work examines geographic and topographic narratives of land and water as they interact with human lives.
