An unhappy game of unrequited loves follows all the houseguests at The Hollow, home to Sir Henry (Sean O’Malley) and Lady Angkatell (Ann MacLaughlan). Lady Angkatell herself has a love for her old home, Ainswick, and worries deeply about its future. Sir Henry worries about her.
Their houseguests for the weekend play a “follow the leader” game of romantic desires leading to the death of John Cristow (Rich Croteau). But who could have done it? The net is a wide one. The path starts with Midge (Nicki Hayes), who loves Edward (Taylor Gilligan), who loves Henrietta (Katharine Coleman), who loves John. But John’s devoted wife Gerda (Leigh Gibson) also loves John. As does Veronica Craye (Kathryn McKeigan), a woman from John’s past back to stir the pot. But who did John love? And did it cause his downfall?
Enter Inspector Colquhoun (Jesse Gibson) and Sergeant Penny (Joseph Nieforth) to unravel the intricate individual desires of these people in order to get to the bottom of the case. Add the very devoted butler Gudgeon (Neil Temple) and gossipy maid Doris (Ming Leonard) to the mix, and signals can very easily get crossed.
With a character described as one of Christie’s “finest comic grande dames,” a fast-paced and witty script, as well as emotional performances, this show will keep you guessing “who done it” until the final curtain.
