Fibre by the Locks is returning to Merrickville for its second year on Sunday, October 18 from 10am to 4pm. The doors of the Pews (100 St. Lawrence St.) will be opening to welcome fibre and textile enthusiasts, artists, makers and producers for a day of fibre fellowship. Visitors will find over 25 talented vendors on the building’s lower level and outdoors on the Pews Green. Special guests will be featured on the upper level.

Tetiana Williams from Memories by Tetiana is being featured as the emerging artist. Tetiana’s work is a unique fusion of copper electroforming with hand-painted silk. It’s exciting to shine a spotlight on new talent and a fresh perspective on fibre art!

Laura Starkey will be exhibiting a selection of 50 tunics from the Tunic Show, which was held this past summer at the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum in Almonte. The tunics represent the creative work of every artist who participated. This will be a wonderful opportunity for people to visit, or re-visit, this unique exhibit.

The Rideau Valley Rug Hookers and the Merrickville Knitting Club will be returning to share their knowledge, and M.J. Pinel will be demonstrating the art of spinning. Michele Philp will be featuring her knitting classes and, along with Anne Barr, will be bringing wool winders to transform purchased skeins into cakes.

The “Pay by Donation” tables will have a vast collection of treasures donated by very generous fibre friends. Bring along a bag and prepare to browse.

A silent auction will feature several very special donations. There is a new “Celebration Baby Loc” serger, thanks to Karen Finstad, and two antique oak mission-style church minister chairs, donated by the Pews and reupholstered to perfection by Tankhouse Fabrications.

Fibre by the Locks wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Alpaca Tracks T(h)read Lightly, The Village of Merrickville Wolford, and Anne Barr for their sponsorship. They feel fortunate to be a part of such a supportive community.

Please come to visit and enjoy a day in the beautiful little village of Merrickville! Admission is free.
