Anticipation has been building for the Friends of the Mississippi Mills Public Library’s annual book sale, and now that October is upon us, the wait is almost over!

From October 1-15 the emphasis is on collecting the thousands of books generously donated by the community to be enjoyed by other readers. To streamline the arduous task of sorting the books, please make it easier by not passing along books that we can’t accept. These include textbooks, dictionaries, encyclopaedia sets, investment and economics books; mouldy, musty or damaged books; books that have been highlighted or written in; and magazines or Readers Digest condensed books. We will be accepting Jigsaw Puzzles with all their pieces, but not DVDs, CDs or audio books. Please respect these guidelines, as it costs us to dispose of them. If you have no books to donate, no worries — you can still support us by coming to the sale.

On October 16 the fun starts! The sale opens at noon, but there is always a lineup so come early if you want the very best selection. Sale hours are 12–6pm on October 16 & 23; 10am–4pm on October 17 & 24, and 11am–3pm on October 18. Payment is by donation, except for a very few exceptional books. Please bring cash, as we are unable to accept cheques, debit or credit cards. If you have a bag please bring it, but if not, we will have a supply.

It definitely feels like time for some new books to fill our shelves. I know that I will have some empty spaces after I drop off my donations. See you at the Book Sale!
