Union Hall is now ready for year-round operation, thanks to a Trillium grant and the work of our tireless volunteers! We look forward to cozy gatherings all winter long, now that we have energy-efficient heat pumps and insulated walls and attic. The hall is a popular venue for family celebrations, as well as yoga classes, meetings, public events and craft sales. With year-round availability, the calendar is filling up with events and activities. And we now have high-speed Internet at the facility, thanks to Storm Internet Services.

To learn more about Union Hall and the surrounding community, or to rent the hall or the outdoor sign, go to our website at union-hall.org. We also have a Facebook page with all the latest news.

Union Hall volunteers continue to make and sell beautifully crafted hardwood cutting boards and one-of-a-kind fabric crafts. Because all the materials and labour are donated, 100% of the purchase price goes directly to Union Hall’s Renovation Fund.

On Saturday, November 15, from 10am until 2pm, we will be holding our annual Community Builders’ Craft Fair at the hall, where we join with other charities and non-profit organizations to raise awareness and much-needed cash for important work in our community. Come and get an early start on your Christmas shopping! This year The Hub, the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum, and Stir it Up Collective will be returning, along with one or two new organizations. A light lunch of homemade soup, biscuits and other goodies will be available for purchase, along with Stir It Up blend Equator coffee, tea and cold beverages.

Our annual Community Potluck will be held this year on Saturday, November 22. Bring the family and meet your neighbours while enjoying the good cheer. We confidently predict a delicious meal!

Join us at the John Levi Community Centre on Saturday, November 29 for the Almonte Farmers’ Market’s Christmas Market, always lots of fun, with music and delicious food served up along with fall garden produce, wreaths and hand-crafted gifts.

The Union Hall Community Centre, constructed in 1857, is a Registered Charitable Organization which is maintained and operated by volunteers, with financial assistance from the Municipality of Mississippi Mills and The Hub, along with donations from private individuals who value the contribution of Union Hall to the community. Several local businesses (listed on our website) support us by providing discounts or even free services or products. For more information about the hall or any of the upcoming events, check out the website or contact Linda at camponi@storm.ca or 256–2277.
