ECOBOU is a small vintage boutique located in the heart of downtown Perth, which is run by owner Robyn Boynton. She had previously been located on Wilson Street, but recently moved to a new location on Gore Street that still holds loads of its charm from when it was built in 1835. “Moving to this Gore Street location has been a really positive change,” notes Robyn. “I’ve felt a lot of support from the community and it’s been really touching”.
Robyn has created a fun and friendly shopping experience with a store stocked full of unique items. She specializes in vintage clothing made from natural fibers, some of which date as far back as the 1910’s, but her collection also includes many items that can be for everyday wear. Everything in ECOBOU is locally sourced and there is a heavy emphasis on having a very low carbon footprint. “Everything in here is second hand, right down to the bags and tags — the shopping bags are all donated and recycled and the tags are all repurposed from cardboard recycling,” Robyn adds. “It’s important for me to be as sustainable as possible”
Aside from all the amazing vintage pieces, Robyn has also started her own slow fashion brand named “Made by ECOBOU” which takes vintage garments and fabrics and marries them together, often using hand stitching and visible mending techniques. “I love making unique clothing and one-of-a-kind items,” she enthuses. “It’s really cool when I can save a piece of clothing or fabric by turning it into something new for someone to enjoy”
Located at 3 Wilson Street W. in Perth, ECOBOU is open 5 days a week, Tuesday through Saturday ecoboushop.com. Come check out this little shop with a big personality!
