Finish the month off with a laugh when the North Grenville Community Theatre presents The Perils of Persephone at the Urbandale Theatre in the North Grenville Community Centre.
The Currie family is fighting to hold onto their turn-of-the-century farm and their dairy herd against economic hard times and the challenges of changing weather. A long summer drought has Orval Currie ready to chuck in the cows and raise camels, while his brother Eldon is looking for a public office promotion by turning his back on the Currie farm and becoming Larkspur Township’s first toxic waste dump-supporting Warden. When a truck crashes on their property, the Curries find out the truck contains nuclear waste and they are now pitted against the biggest hazard of all… the government!
The Perils of Persephone is a warm, rural comedy about small-town folk standing up to protect their farm and the life they know and love. Written by the creator of the very successful Wingfield Farm comedy series, it brings to life more stories and characters of Needles’ mythical Persephone Township.
Shows take place on May 28, 29 and 30 at 7:30pm, with a 1pm matinée on May 31. Tickets are available from TicketsPlease.ca.
