Canada & The Nordics

with the ambassadors of Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Sweden — moderated by former Governor General David Johnston

The rules-based international order is under unprecedented pressure. Given these challenges, nations must play to their strengths and forge stronger alliances with partners who share common values and are strategic.

Learning Again in Almonte is pleased to host the ambassadors from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden for a 90-minute moderated discussion on such issues as:

• The power of alliances: why Canada–Nordic relations matter now more than ever.
• Shared priorities: where Nordic and Canadian foreign policies align.
• Geopolitics and sovereignty: protecting security and interests in the Arctic.
• Global defence: the current role of NATO and ongoing, united support for Ukraine.
• Collective impact: can middle powers act collectively as a political and economic bloc?
• Trade: the barriers and strategic pathways to deepening trade relations between Canada and the Nordic countries.

This event is your opportunity to hear directly from top diplomats on how Canada and its Nordic partners are strengthening their relationships based on shared values and joint ambitions.
