Almonte Song Circle Collective
A group of Ottawa Valley musicians meet Thursday evenings for a weekly acoustic session. From 6-7pm they try out new songs for & with each other, then 7-8pm they'll play familiar cover tunes & invite people to sing along. New musicians welcome! “What we ask of new musicians is that you be able to get through a single song or songs from start to finish in a musical way. Playing just one song in an evening is perfectly OK, but if you can’t sing on key, can’t keep your instrument tuned, or riff all over someone else’s song to the point of distraction, we sort that out." - Nathan Sloniowski.

Lecture: Arctic Return Expedition Leader David Reid
Learning Again in Almonte (prev. Almonte Lectures)
Lecture: Arctic Return expedition leader David Reid is delighted to take you on a journey of discovery, history & adventure. In March 1854, Orcadian explorer John Rae set out from Naujaat in the Cdn Arctic. Together with Inuk William Ouligbuck & Ojibway Thomas Mistegan, Rae discovered both the final link in the first navigable Northwest Passage and the catastrophe that had engulfed the failed Franklin expedition. In March 2019, the Arctic Return Expedition team set out from Naujaat on skis to retrace the 650km route taken by Rae and his companions. The goal of the Arctic Return journey was to bring awareness, pay tribute to and honour John Rae; one of the greatest Arctic explorers of all time. Register.

Blues on the Rideau

They had to postpone 3 years due to COVID, but he is finally here! If you love dynamite electric Blues Rock (although he plays acoustic guitar just as well) then this is one show you don’t want to miss.

Blues on the Rideau
Tickets to Blues on the Rideau get you dinner & show. Call 1-613-273-3636 to ensure they've not sold out! Proceeds from tonight go to the Kick In For Kids, Rideau District High School. At age 80 Harrison truly is a member of Canada’s Blues royalty. He does it all with his amazing voice - Roots, Blues, Soul and R&B. Born and raised in “The Hammer” Harrison started his career with a bang in the early ‘70s when he joined the famous Motown band Chairmen Of The Board. He travelled the world with them performing on shows like Soul Train, American Bandstand and England’s Top Of The Pops. When COTB ended Harrison returned to Hamilton where he basically dropped out of the music business for 30 years before re-emerging in 2003 with a great album called “Sweet Taste”. Since then he’s released 8 more.

Almonte Song Circle Collective

Folkus: A Leverage for Mountains
Folkus Concert Series
Originally scheduled for 2020, A Leverage for Mountains have been honing their chops at home in Val-des-Monts, and recently released a new EP entitled Love Out of the Dark. They are stunning singers, and we expect their voices to soar here in the Almonte Old Town Hall. Opener: Mia Kelly is a Gatineau-based singer, with strong Lanark County connections and a knockout voice, whose material ranges from sweet folk to blues-inflected pop.
